MERLEAU-PONTY, Signes.
|
MERLEAU-PONTY, Maurice. Signes. Paris: Gallimard, 1960. Octavo, 435pp. First edition, the issue on ordinary paper, of this collection of essays on language and signification. Foxing to top edge of pages, else a very good+ partially unopened copy in mildly spine-tanned wraps. Warmly inscribed by Merleau-Ponty in 1961 to Harold Rosenberg, art critic for the New Yorker, author of The Tradition of the New, and one of the main apologists for Abstract Expressionism. An excellent association.
