ARLT, Roberto. Group Photograph, Signed. n.d. 5" x 7" black and white photograph taken at a dinner in celebration (according to text affixed to the verso) of Arlt's reception of the prestigious Municipal Prize for his novel Los Siete locos, in July of 1932. In addition to Arlt and local luminaries, the photograph includes likenesses of the authors Julio Barcos, Elias Castelnuovo and Ricardo Llanes. Amid smiles, self-satisfaction or simple rigidity, Arlt's countenence is a model of consternation, and appropriately so for the author of The Seven Madmen. Photograph in very good condition, affixed to an old mount which is worn at the corners. Arlt has signed in the upper margin of the mount with his characteristic flourish. We had intended this precious image to preside over the meetings of The Roberto Arly Society but, sadly, we are forced to recognize that we will never found it.

BURGESS, Anthony. Photographic Portrait, Signed. 1990. 215 x 150mm, black-and-white image of the British author. Signed and dated by Burgess on both the photograph and 234 x 180 card stock mount. Although probably still best known for his novel A Clockwork Orange, Burgess is the author of dozens of intelligent, inventive and well crafted novels, as well a quite a few engaging works of criticism. Two small creases to lower right hand corner of mount, not effecting image or signature, else fine.

Inscribed on the upper right of the image to editor William Targ, "To Willam Targ/ With a yo-heave-ho & a hey-money-money/ James McCain/ Dec. 11, 1943." Short (20mm) closed tear to upper edge and light crease towards centre.
