BADII, Libero. Frases espontaneas "De lo sinestro." Once aguafuertes. Buenos Aires: n.p., 1978. Folio, unpaginated loose sheets. First edition of this wonderful portfolio of Badii's eau-fortes, each illustrating a poetical ejaculation by the artist; one of only 11 copies on Fabriano, each containing eleven eau-fortes, each one and the colophon signed and numbered by Badii. In addition, the work contains proof states of two of the etchings, each one of three, also signed and numbered by Badii. A remarkable production and a superb glimpse of the artist's work as an etcher. Some minor foxing to the paper-covered chemise, else fine. Inscribed by Badii, "Al amigo Dr. Carlos Reussi en el dia que ha sido distinguido con el titulo de "Maestro en Gastroenterologia." Mis felicitaciones. Libero Badii, 20 Deciembre 1983." Including the cover etching, which is also signed, the work contains fourteen signed etchings by Badii.

BIOY (CASARES), Adolfo V. Prólogo. Buenos Aires: "Biblos Editorial", 1929. Small octavo, 124pp. First edition of the first book by one of the eminent literary presences of Latin American literature in the first half of the century, later known principally as a frequent collaborator of Jorge Luis Borges, but whose work is a rare literary fruit in its own right. Published when Bioy was a mere lad of 15. A very good or better copy in publisher's printed wrappers, a touch of foxing here and there. One of the rarest first books of a significant Latin American author in the 20th Century. With the library stamp of poet Jorge Calvetti.

LEZAMA LIMA, José. Analecta del reloj. Havana: Orígenes, 1953. Octavo, 279pp. First edition of this collection of literary essays by the glorious Cuban descendant of Góngora. Inscribed "Para Octavio Paz, mi querido amigo, sin conocerlo, con la admiración de su labor poética y crítica. De J. Lezama Lima Agosto 7 y 1953," followed by the great man's address, "Trocadero 162, bajos, La Habana Cuba." The present copy lacks the upper wrap and most of the upper half of the spine. Most of Paz's library was destroyed in a fire in the last years of his life. A precious relic.

PAZ, Octavio and KATAYAMA, Toshi. 3 Notations/Rotations. Cambridge, MA: Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts of Harvard University, 1974. Square quarto, four heavy card-stock sheets, with lighter card-stock dividers. A collaboration between Paz and artist Katayama, the work consists of three visual poems, entitled "Portrait," "Two in One" and "Bread or Riddle," each set on a template with a revolving upper section, so that the text, and the work of art, changes as the moving piece is turned. An elegant and playful collaboration between poet and artist, inspired, per Paz, by his admiration for Mallarme, among other influences. One of 150 numbered copies, signed by Paz and Katayama. A very fine copy in the publisher's printed card-stock box, and even contained in the publisher's original labeled shipping box. Rare in this condition.
